Dr. Zaher Z. Mutasim is Manager, Materials and Processes Engineering Department, Solar Turbines Incorporated in San Diego, California. He is responsible for the development and application of industrial gas turbine materials and processes. He has over 15 years of experience in the gas turbine material and coating solutions. He has been instrumental in the development and implementation of various coating systems to improve gas turbine efficiency, durability and life cycle cost.

Dr. Mutasim was previously with Drexel University as a Research Professor in the Thermal Spray Research Laboratory.

Dr. Mutasim received his doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom and received his B.S. degree from the American University of Beirut - Lebanon. He also holds an MBA in global management from the University of Phoenix. He has authored and presented over 40 technical papers, and is a holder of 4 patents in the area of gas turbine materials.
