Dr. Nesreen Ghaddar, Ph.D. Endowed Qatar Chair for Energy Studies Professor and Chairperson of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the American University of Beirut. She is an ASME Fellow and a member of ASHRAE. In 1980, she received her B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Kuwait University. Dr. Ghaddar earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 1982 and 1985, respectively. She taught for five years as assistant professors at Kuwait University before joining AUB. She was a visiting research scholar for two summers to MIT and Technical University of Berlin. Her research is in the area of thermal fluid sciences that include research activities in experimental and computational heat transfer, resonant heat transfer enhancement, renewable energy, energy conversion in MHD thermosyphonic flows, modeling of moisture and heat flow in cotton fibers and porous media, and in environmental impact assessment of thermal systems and thermal systems design. She was founding member of the Energy Research Group at AUB (ERG) and served as its Coordinator at AUB for four years (2000-04).
